Instructions for Authors

Journal of Dental and Allied Health Research (JDAHR)

JDAHR follows the guidelines of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and publishes original, unpublished manuscripts not under consideration elsewhere. Authors must adhere to the highest ethical, scientific, and reporting standards.

 

 

1. Manuscript Submission Guidelines

1.1 Submission Requirements

  • Manuscripts must be original and not previously published.

  • A signed cover letter (Annexure-1) from the corresponding author confirming originality and exclusivity is mandatory.

  • Tables and illustrations must appear on separate pages.

1.2 Electronic Submission

  • International authors must submit manuscripts via the official JDAHR Online Submission Portal.

  • Additionally, email submissions are required at: managingeditor@jdahrjournal.com

Accepted file formats:

  • Manuscripts & tables: MS Word (.doc/.docx)

  • Figures/graphics: JPEG (.jpg/.jpeg)

 

 

2. Manuscript Format

2.1 Title Page (Unblinded Version)

Include:

  • Article title

  • Full author names in publication order

  • Academic degrees, designations, institutions

  • Corresponding author’s email, phone number, and mailing address

  • Acknowledgements

  • Ethical approval number (mandatory in unblinded version)

2.2 Abstract

  • Maximum 300 words

  • Original research: structured abstract (Objective(s), Materials and Methods, Results, Conclusion)

  • Case reports and reviews: unstructured abstract allowed

  • Provide 3–6 MeSH keywords

2.3 Abbreviations

  • Use standardized abbreviations; define at first use

  • Do not use abbreviations in titles or abstracts

2.4 Introduction

  • State study rationale and objectives

  • Avoid extensive literature review or conclusions

  • Include working hypothesis if applicable

2.5 Materials and Methods

  • Provide sufficient detail for reproducibility

  • Include:

    • Ethical approval (unblinded version)

    • Study design and sample details

    • Consent type (verbal/written)

    • Generic drug/material names, doses, and routes

    • Statistical methods and software

2.6 Results

  • Do not submit manuscripts reporting only frequencies

  • Present findings clearly; avoid duplication between text, tables, and figures

2.7 Discussion

  • Interpret main findings in context of existing literature

  • Highlight similarities, contradictions, implications, and limitations

2.8 Conclusion

  • Concise, evidence-based conclusions linked to study objectives

2.9 References

  • Use Vancouver style, double-spaced

  • Cite references in order of appearance

  • Limits:

    • Original articles: up to 40 references

    • Review articles: up to 100 references

  • For more than six authors, list first six followed by et al.

  • Include full bibliographic details

2.10 Tables and Figures

  • Each on a separate page with title and legend

  • Must be cited in the text

  • Avoid duplication of data between text, tables, and figures

 

 

3. Additional Requirements

3.1 Ethical Compliance

  • Adhere to institutional guidelines and the Declaration of Helsinki

  • Remove patient identifiers

  • Ethical approval details must appear only in the unblinded version

3.2 Units of Measurement

  • Prefer SI units, with conventional units in parentheses if needed

3.3 Drug Names

  • Use generic names; brand names in parentheses only if necessary

3.4 Permissions

  • Written permission required for reproduced figures/tables

 

 

4. Submission Preparation Checklist

Before submission, prepare:

  • Two versions of the manuscript:

    • Blinded: no author/institution details; replace with “[For Blinding]”

    • Unblinded: with full author and institution details

  • Title Page

  • Ethical Approval Certificate (unblinded)

  • Signed Cover Letter

  • Names and justification for two potential reviewers

  • Final analyzed dataset

  • ICMJE Disclosure Form

5. Formatting Checklist

  • Abstract: ≤ 300 words

  • Main text: ≤ 2500 words

  • Font sizes: Heading 14, Subheading 13, Body text 12

  • Double-spaced, justified text

  • Sequential numbering of references, tables, and figures

Unblinded version must include:

  • Conflict of interest

  • Grant support / financial disclosure

  • Authors’ contributions

  • Ethical approval number and consent details

 

 

6. Article Processing Charges (APC)

6.1 Submission Fee (Non-Refundable)

  • PKR 4,000 (USD 47) for all original manuscripts

  • Applicable to both national and international authors

  • Exempt: case reports, reviews, letters, invited editorials

6.2 Post-Acceptance Publication Charges

  • Regular Track: PKR 15,000 (USD 53)

  • Fast Track: PKR 26,000 (USD 90)

8. Retrieval and Refund Policy

  • Submission Fee: Non-refundable
